For almost 50 years, Frank and Joan Nephew have been making fudge on Mackinac Island. Today, Joann’s Fudge is a third generation business that continues Frank and Joan’s commitment to providing high quality products. We pride ourselves on the smooth and creamy texture of our fudge.
Our blog, like our fudge, is a family collaboration, written by second generation (we can type!) and third generation (we know what a “blog” is) family members. The first generation, in this publication, contributed as fashion models for our first blog photo shoot!
Frank and Joan have four children and seven grandchildren, many of whom work in the family business on Mackinac Island. A couple of these family members are writing this blog, and prefer to remain anonymous – until their skills improve.
Our family has been making fudge on Mackinac Island since 1969 when Frank and Joan purchased the first Joann’s Fudge location next to McNally Cottage. One year later, they purchased their second location in an historic building in the center of Mackinac Island’s downtown, and in 1980 a third location was added in Mackinaw City. We hope to see you in one of our stores soon!
