Our Joann’s Fudge family is celebrating 50 fabulous years! In 1969, Frank Nephew realized his lifelong dream of starting his own business when he opened the first ever Joann’s Fudge. Despite some trepidation from his wife Joan, a second Joann’s Fudge was opened in an historic building in the center of town only one year later – and in 1980, they added a third location in Mackinaw City.
We were so thrilled and honored that Joann’s Fudge was rated #1 by The Daily Meal as America’s Best Fudge Shop. In order to be considered, the shops needed to make their fudge from scratch, by hand, on-premises daily. Many of America’s best fudge shops are family run, some for generations.
Our blog, like our fudge, is a family & friends collaboration, written by second generation (we can type!) and third generation (we know what a “blog” is) family members.
